Failed Joint Replacement
Most joint replacements are successful. When one undergoes early failure it could be due to poor prosthesis design or implant failure.
Bimalleolar Ankle Fracture
One of the most common slip and fall injuries, especially in winter. The standard treatment for this is open reduction and internal fixation with metal plates and screws. Most of the pitfalls in the treatment of this problem are postoperative. Not all of these fractures heal at the same rate. Careful serial followup x-rays are mandatory.
A herniated disk is a painful, trauma induced condition. It symptomatically gives pain and neurologic dysfunction requiring invasive treatment.
Torn Medial Meniscus
A very common injury. The mechanism of force that causes this injury is twisting. The meniscus is the shock absorber of the knee. It resists forces very well when it is compressed, but it is weak in resisting torque. Treatment is operative through minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques.
